A medium heavy coated electrode for hardfacing / resurfacing of worn out austenitic manganese steel parts. The weld is particularly resistant to wear by impact.
The high manganese weld deposit work hardens in service under impact loading. While surfacing Carbon Steel/Low Alloy Steel, deposit a buffer layer with 18/8/6 type electrode. The electrode is characterised by easily removable slag and minimum spatter.
Hardfacing crusher jaws and hammers, dredger bucket teeth, manganese steel rails, rail cross over, rail frogs and switches, austenitic manganese steel casting, cement grinder rings, etc.

Clean and degrease the parent metal, remove by grinding any hard zone or cracked or spalled material. Employ short arc & low current. Avoid excessive weaving and very thick beads. Peen the weld while hot.
